Nothing else is needed unless you need to modify the settings. Trying to make changes over a wireless connection can be risky if not fatal. You can easily brick it for instance if you try to update the firmware on a wireless connection. My repeater is wired directly with networking cable to one pc for this reason.

Is work as bad as work experience?

I am unemployed and have done that type of work for the past 30 odd years, the only difference I would have is I would find something closer to home and I drive so something no more than 30 minutes drive away. Normally if you were employed to do work in the office you would be snowed under with paperwork and the time goes by a lot quicker. Why can't I connect to my wireless repeater by ethernet?

I have a wireless repeater that has a high gain antenna fitted to it to pick up my neighbour's network, which we use to share broadband. When I use my PC's wireless card it works fine, but the speed is greatly reduced (as you'd expect with wireless) so I'd rather connect to the repeater by ethernet. I have done this successfully and got a full speed connection, but only when I set it as a bridge that makes a non-wireless device (such as an xbox) wireless. As soon as I set it up as a wifi repeater the ethernet won't work at all. Any ideas??

Confounded by a problem with my Sony 5000ES receiver- please help!?

My Sony receiver is located behind some cabinets in my home theater system, controlled by a Logitech Harmony remote and a Niles IR extender system so I can control everything with the cabinets closed. I have both an IR flasher mounted to the front of the receiver and a plug going from the Niles unit into the back of the receiver. Everything works great unitl someone switches something physically on the receiver itself, then it ceases to respond to the commands from the IR repeater system for about a week or so, and then magically works again. It works fine directly from the remote if the cabinet door is open, but will not receive commands when the door is closed. This last time it has been out of commission for more than two weeks. I have young kids and leaving the cabinet open is not an option. I have tried combinations of the flasher, the control port, and both, and nothing works. Any other audio geeks out there that can give me some guidance on this?

The Asus N53SV-XE1 is a solid computer, especially for the price. I was surprised at how much a difference the new i7 made in performance compared to my old laptop's Core 2 Duo. When it overclocks, prepare to be surprised at how much this baby can do. The graphics card has handled everything I have thrown at it so far. Battery life is reasonable, I got three and a half hours when I put it in battery saving mode. Even with the processor underclocked in these settings, it is still extremely fast and can handle virus scans, email, and web surfing in short order. The screen makes HD videos and games look awesome, too.

so i have an ipod touch 4g and when i try to connect to my wifi (2wire) it displays full bars but when i connect it is constantly going off and on. For 5 seconds i have wifi, for the next 5 seconds i dont and so on. tried all resets, purchased, wireless repeater, manually typed in in IP address, the only place in my house that i don't have WiFi is this one particular half of my room, constantly, even with a repeater in my room 5 feet away , it always flickers on and off, on and off; never a solid full bar connection. its like theirs an invisible wall with WiFi repellant sprayed all over it, its soooo damn annoying

the distance of lampposts and height can vary depending on how busy the road is and the speed limit (ideally it can be 100 yards for every 10mph the limit is) so yes in a 30mph limit road they would normally be around 300 yards apart whereas on the motorways/dual with the National 70mph limit they would be further apart more like 700 (100x7) yards but of course cos of the speeds matching the distance apart it would be hard to notice the difference much unless u were going at a crawl

D-Link router randomly changes IP addresses, why?

This is kind of complicated but I'll try to simplify it. A client (this is at a home residence) has a D-Link DIR-628 router. This is on the top floor. Its a tri-level home so they're having difficulty getting signal to the machine in the basement and sometimes the wireless printer kicks off or the netbook. The signal strength is weak probably due to walls and floors (its at 35% on average). So they bought a repeater. After endless labor this finally worked. For the longest time I could get on the network through it but no internet access. I finally found out this was because the router was assigning the repeater a 169 IP as opposed to the normal range of 168.xxxx addresses. It does the same thing to the printer on occasion and so far the only reason they've found to fix it is to reset the power on the router. We finally did this and it gave us internet on the repeater as well. So I haven't dug into the router too much yet but I don't know why it would sporadically kick out incorrect IP addresses to the repeater or printer. Currently everything is working but I have a feeling that will be temporary. I was working late and forgot to check the IP range its sending out, other than that I'm not sure why this would happen. Thoughts?

How can my neighbour and I share his broadband?

My neighbour is getting a high end broadband service installed, and we are looking at sharing the costs as it's quite expensive but over 15x faster than standard ADSL broadband in our area, which is not served by cable. I was thinking of getting a 12dBi transmitting antenna to put on his back wall (next door but one to me) facing into my back garden, and connecting it to his router. Then getting a 10dBi receiving antenna mounted in my garden and connecting it to a booster/repeater in my house. The distance is about 15m-20m away, will this work and keep the 15mb connection in tact? How do I connect a Linksys router to a Belkin router as an access point?

Okay, I have two routers. One is a Linksys WRT120N (I also have a WRT54G2 V1 if the current isn't compatible...) and I also have a Belkin F5D7230-4 router. The Linksys is connected to my cable modem and has good enough signal for all of my downstairs, but my upstairs has little to no connection in certain places (MY ROOM for example!!) so I'd like to configure the Belkin router to be used as an access point or repeater. Keep in mind that there is no wired connection in my upstairs so I need to configure it as a repeater that won't be hardwired to the original router. I'm willing to update to 3rd party firmware or anything if need be. I don't care if it's something that will potentially brick my router or void the warranty, if it will work...please help me do it! The netgear has the settings for WDS but I cant seem to find them on the Belkin! throughout most of my life i had been an agnostic never really putting much faith into anything but have always been comforted by the idea that hey theres got to be something out there but how can any of these books and faiths contain the complete will of god, and even if one could do that ive always felt that over the years many religions original goals and meanings have become perverted. up until recently i was completely content with this belief, but very recently something has made me start to struggle with the realization that i might actually be an atheist. i don't know specifically what caused this revelation, but i know that the more i dwell on it the more viable it becomes. ive actually almost completely accepted the lack of a god or a hereafter completely, and coming to this belief ive found that its much harder to handle than i would have thought before it was an entertainable idea in my head. its just like the more i think about it the more i seem to come to the conclusion that maybe we werent an accident but maybe we were and maybe there is no all knowing, all seeing, all powerful creator that drafted us in his image and maybe when we die thats just it, we die. and the more i think about mortality the more securely the belief becomes implanted in my brain, nothing we do when were alive matters since there is no afterlife in which we can be punished, spiritually were on our own and the idea of a higher power is only to keep us performing socially acceptable actions. and also the more i ponder this the more ludicrous the idea of believing in a god, who has never been proven or even hinted at by the millions of years this earth has been around. with this question i mean to convey no disrespect but only too get an unemotional, level headed answer from someone who does have the capability to believe.

You certainly won't be operating through amateur repeaters which are 20MHz plus away from the UHF PMR band or MARS repeaters which are 15MHz+ away. UHF propagation can increase due to atmospherics such as tropospheric scatter which happens mainly in the early Summer months. You'll probably recognise the effect when good ol' analog TV had patterning or one channel on top of another. Tropo scatter can allow UHF transmissions to travel a couple of hundred miles or so. If you are far North enough to have transmitted during an Aurora your transmission range will be extended but your signal will be distorted. Not sure how it sounds on FM but an SSB speech transmission sounds like "a ghost with a sore throat" due to the way the Aurora mangles the signal.

New problem for my router; how to change its setting?

Now that I can access the IP address of my router I need to used the info to go into the router to change its setting. There seems to be more than one IP address: the subset mask, the IPv4 address; which one do I use? I've actually totally been there and though I've always been strongwilled, I'm sorry to say that I changed for them. I became more shallow, fake, dramatic, and impulsive and crazy. Would somebody please help me and give me some study/life advice? I just received my J.D. and am currently studying for the Virginia Bar exam. I’m not back in Virginia though; I’m still living where I went to law school and to be honest I’m struggling. I’m keeping up with the lectures and I’m doing tons of MBE problems a night, but I feel like I’m slacking on my outlining and essay practice. Funny thing is I’m doing that work too. I’m just so f…ing scared. No matter how hard I work and study there is always this voice in the back of my head tell me that I’m not studying right….that I’m going to fail. I’m really considering just running away from this exam. I’ve never wanted to run away from anything in my life, but I don’t want this. I’m angry all the time. I’ve been having panic attacks. Disagree. NL pitchers have to worry about more than just pitching as AL pitchers have the luxury of sending someone else to hit for them. Also I feel the AL hitters are considered better when really the pitchers are weaker, and they all play in hitters parks. Yes you can get past level 50 on borderlands without general knoxx and ninja claptraps. I got to level 61 with general knoxx and before i got it i was level 51-55, can't remember. Yes you can get a combat riffle with more then x1 but without add ons your chances are very slim. Try bosses, they drop good ones. The urban stomper is good for not alot of targets because of its magazine size, unless brick has bigger magazine because of his skills. The repeater pistol is very good. The sniper has very good damage, but zoom and depending if it is bolt action or semi automatic, is bad with magazine size. The revolver is very good for one shot kills on enimies, but should not be used against bosses, or lots of enimies because of slow fire rate and bad magazine size. The rocket launcher says the same as revolver, one shot kill. The shotgun, if it is like sledges that shoots quickly, Should be used in groups because shotguns blast not fire. The shield is ok, but should not be used when you are getting piled by alot of people, has a good capacity and recharge, but you are fighting monsters your level, meaning there will be stronger people out there. And if you are getting shot from far away and cannot reach the person, fire wave is no good. The grenade mod is good, but at your level i recommend a x1-4 any grenade any element.

What advice would you give to incoming college freshman whose interests leave him befuddled in choosing majors?

I am 18, college-bound for the fall, and I can't decide on where I see myself. My original plan was to head into law, but I did my research and learned, to my dismay, that law is a very very popular career choice. Second I considered Computer Engineering and Science but than I had a peek into the past and remembered how poorly I did in my High School math classes and then foresaw a future of pain and stress for the next four years as CE or CS major. Than I came to a realization that the my interests in life usually go back to these four things: coffee, music, philosophy, and literature. How in hell am I suppose to choose a major with interest that usually leave people with the opinion that those who have only such interest will end up broke and homeless. I really want to have my majors down before I attend my college orientation next month and see my adviser to pick classes. I really would like to double major. I have considered just becoming a business and cognitive science major and just go into business. I mean I love coffee and I always had this dream to move to Seattle, Washington, the coffee capital, or to San Fransisco, CA and just starting my own independent coffee shop. I mean there are three independent coffee shops that are doing pretty well for themselves, and my hometown isn't the most lucrative place to do business. Don't count on the horn as a carry on. Best case scenario is the stewardess sees it and asks if it is a musical instrument and takes care of it for you. (yes I have heard of that happening) worst case is they see it and say you have to check it, no ifs ands or buts. If you have connecting flights its even harder to take it on. If it's not yours I would NOT risk it. The trumpet ought to fit as a carry on. Check online but as long as it is within the required dimensions they can't do much. Another possibility is to just take the mouthpiece for the horn and do 20-30 min of buzzing each day to keep your embouchure in shape. You could also buy a buzz tube and put it in your checked baggage.

Firstly, a firmware upgrade is most likely not going to solve your range problem. Secondly, unless the router has detachable antennae (which most new low end routers don't), you won't be connecting a high gain antenna to it. As far as distance, if you really want to reach out and touch someone, you could spend a small fortune on a bi-linear wifi amplifier (get out the charge card because it aint cheap). That also still requires a router with detachable antennae.

well in my case, which seems similar to yours, it's like i feel a bit of love or tenderness for everyone who crosses my path and catches my attention, especially certain guys. on one level of existence i just feel very connected and engaged with those around me yet at the same time i feel very detached and distant which might cause me to keep my options open because i feel like once i find my perfect match he'll literally meet me in the middle and bring my worlds of internal fantasy and external reality together so that i experience an invigorating calming of my mind and soul so that i am "not all over the place" but in one place in the sense of my position in relation to the physical and the mental experiences. sometimes i can't make a decision because i like say two guys equally and wish i could combine their traits into one guy. i noticed though when i'm seeing a guy, that i tend to stay loyal to them like all i want is their kiss, yet it's like we don't even have anything official or we aren't even dating. i feel like why chase down other options when i kind of have something sorta solid and i'm getting the attention i need and i enjoy them. however once i got my eyes set on someone, i see no one else and once i've established that i like them or have feelings for them, those don't usually go away that easily unless i completely lock them out of my life but even then i still think about them. maybe you just haven't found the one that makes your heart beat faster and slower at the same time.

If i dont do well in year 12 and get a good enter score will i not be able to get where i want to in life?

So basically Im in year 12 and im getting all stressed out cause i dont know what to do. Basically im doing psychology, IT, Drama, Media and english language, Im not the best student, and i get marks around C+ standard, but i know that if i put my mind to it, i can actually do really well, Im just not really much of an academic person, ive been told by respectable directors and actors that i have a talent with acting, and that is what i wish to do later in life, im also very good creatively, i play drums, and i create music with audio interfaces on computers, however im not good when it comes to drawing. My parents are very intelligent, specifically my dad, my mum is better at english rather than scientific topics. Anyway, basically im not doing the best I can be doing this year and I just really dont want to be some drug addict on the side of the road with no job, I will never ever EVER touch any drugs other than a little bit of dope here and there, ANYWAY, i also want to know, Is it really worth being one of those kids that put 3 hours of study and homework in every night? Because at the moment im lucky if i do 30 minutes of study/homework, im getting by OKAY with that, but i know i can be doing better, is it worth myself doing that? do i need that realisation to get off ******* WoW and start putting the work in. How can I overcome my fear?

I live in Rhode Island and tornadoes are very rare, but I'm absolutely terrified. I have been since a tornado warning not too long ago. I realized how much I really love my life as I thought I was going to die. The tornado ended up not being anywhere in our state, but my dad was driving home right near where one hit. Ever since I have not only been afraid of thunderstorms but I've been unable to sleep at night because I'm so afraid of dying. I actually used to love them and enjoy them, though I had been afraid of them for a very long time. I know everyone comes to the realization they will someday die, but how can I learn to deal with it? Is race a factor when you meet people?

When you meet somebody what's the first thing you think about while talking to them? Wireless Access Point problem?

Hi! I just bought a wireless access point TP-link TL-WA801ND and I have set it up as a repeater of my router up stairs. I'm using it to give my old xbox a wireless connection when directly connected to the AP. It works but only when I disable my routers password leaving it open to anyone. I tried to lock it to a particular mac address but it doesnt work. I want to still have internet access downstairs through my AP but with the password on the router. Does anyone have any advice?

Which one should I get?

Well, I'm shopping for a new backpack for next year (I'm going into 6th grade) and I was wondering which one I should get. But first things first: PB Teen or Justice? I mean, PB Teen has bigger backpacks (FYI I won't be switching classes i.e homeroom,first period, second period,ect.) but Justice is on sale, so I don't know. What advice would you give to incoming college freshman whose interests leave him befuddled in choosing majors?

I am 18, college-bound for the fall, and I can't decide on where I see myself. My original plan was to head into law, but I did my research and learned, to my dismay, that law is a very very popular career choice. Second I considered Computer Engineering and Science but than I had a peek into the past and remembered how poorly I did in my High School math classes and then foresaw a future of pain and stress for the next four years as CE or CS major. Than I came to a realization that the my interests in life usually go back to these four things: coffee, music, philosophy, and literature. How in hell am I suppose to choose a major with interest that usually leave people with the opinion that those who have only such interest will end up broke and homeless. I really want to have my majors down before I attend my college orientation next month and see my adviser to pick classes. I really would like to double major. I have considered just becoming a business and cognitive science major and just go into business. I mean I love coffee and I always had this dream to move to Seattle, Washington, the coffee capital, or to San Fransisco, CA and just starting my own independent coffee shop. I mean there are three independent coffee shops that are doing pretty well for themselves, and my hometown isn't the most lucrative place to do business. Heck I live in Cali and and there are so many good small suburban cities I could go to rather than a big one like San Fran. What do you think? What do you recommend? Any advice for me?

Can a repeater carry multiple signals?

I have a Verizon range extender(mini cell tower) and a router that I have moved to the basement in my house. These signals are having issues reaching the 2nd floor . I am looking for an elegant solution, along the lines of a repeater, that can carry BOTH signals to the second floor. I like the Netgear Powerline, but I don't think it can carry more than one signal.

Can I hook up two wireless routers on the same land?

I was wondering if it was possible to hook up a second router on the same land as the first. I live in a trailer on my parents land and it's outside the range of the first wireless router so I've been trying to search around for something to do. I've read about wireless extenders or repeaters but do not want the degraded quality they offer because my primary use will be Xbox live. All I can say is I lost 50 Lb,, I never did a diet at all. All I did was put on music and danced to it. you have to eat to stay alive, but you know that. So sister put on the music and Dance away. When you starve your-self then you eat your body holds on to the food more. It's a build in thing in us. so we don't die. Forget counting and Dance Away. Hope this works for you. Just remember you didn't put it on over night so you wont take it off over night. The slower you lose weight the more it is most likely to stay off. P.S. my weight lost has been 10 years ago,And never has been put back on.

Can i pass a sound signal wirelessly through infrafred light?

i am trying to make a remote listening device that passes its sound signal through a chain of infrared repeaters (of my own design) that take in any infrared light frequency and put it out another 15-20 feet in the opposite direction. i was wondering if i would just be able to hook up a standard male stereo jack to an infrared emmiter and plug the trs jack into a female trs jack hooked up to the signal source and transmit it with the infrared emmiter at the end of the male jack, and then pick it up with an infrared reciever hooked up to another standard male stereo trs jack and then plug that jack into a female trs jack connected to a speaker. asumming i have the correct ressistance on the reciving side to actually hear the signal when or if it comes, would i be able to transmit my sound signal over infrared light in this way? and if not in this way then how can i?
