Is race a factor when you meet people?

When you meet somebody what's the first thing you think about while talking to them? Is it that there a nice person or wow I had a good converstation with them or is it oh I'm talking to white person(excuse my french)or I'm talking to a black person or asian. With me race is never a factor when I meet people I have matured enough(17 years old) to come to the realization that everybody is human and with race not only that but other differences we treat each other like different species. I feel that this is wrong and why can't we just love each other equally?
