Need help with my Motorola HT1000 Radio.?

Open the back cover. Locate the antenna output terminal ( not the ground shield terminal ). Solder a piece of soft flexible insulated wire about two feet. Drill a hole at the back and pass this wire. That is another antenna. This is a quick repair without replacing any parts.
