Help with a wireless repeater/bridge and switch?

I have a wireless network set up, but I need a repeater on one side. It assigns my devices an IP, but doesn't connect to the normal network (192.168.2.x) and instead uses something like (169.254.x.x) which apparently my devices assign to themselves. I cannot connect to the internet. One time I got it working, but after I plugged in my wired switch that I need for two old computers (servers) and the whole network died. Please help!
